Refresher to ICS prior to the class or a brief cap in the beginning - send acronyms upfront - learning curve was to large to catch up with lectures - up front info would have curbed that feeling.

Interfacing with responders of various experience levels.

Not enough integration of Emergency Management in the scenarios. The only piece that really touched on EM was the reunification portion which was very small.

The scenarios should better integrate emergency management. If an EM isn't available, that section of the scenario would easily be removed. Or changing Area Command to EOC in one of the scenarios. Many smaller jurisdictions just don't have the personnel to be able to staff an Area Command, so going straight from the incidents to the EOC would be helpful for more real-world experience.

EOC simulation on the support and coordination during an active shooter incident.

Lectures. too much overly explaining and time wasted.

Take notes from military la enforcement. a eoc completely negates most of these tasks. but reinforces good communication and purpose in these high stress scenarios quickly and efficiently. take notes from their processes.
