Knowledge and skills are two different things. This course teaches knowledge. It does not teach skills as skills are developed through knowledge in action. The knowledge part was great, but I feel that if an incident did occur, just having the head knowledge without the actions (such as an in-person training scenario) to go along with it is only half the training needed to be sufficient in anything.

I personally am a visual person, and I find it very difficult to absorb information while watch someone talking on a screen. I had to go back and rewatch a few videos because my mind kept wandering off without a visual to focus that compliments the speaking parts.

What other training is most important to you now that you have completed this course?

An in-person scenario regarding this training with all units involved would be a huge benefit. In my military experience, we conducted digital, battalion level exercises which involved battalion staff and commanders from multiple different battalions within our brigade. We all worked individually on our battalion level tasks while simultaneously working together as a brigade to accomplish a brigade level mission. This in person realistic training with live information being provided throughout the training exercise really helped us understand how an operation would look in a tactical combat situation. This is how I envision the next step of this particular training should be to help everyone go through it and see how it works in real time.

Which part(s) of the course was LEAST valuable to you? Please explain why.

The checklist. Seems that it is applied that Law Enforcement responds similarly to critical incidents as fire or ems which if I as a supervisor is first to arrive on scene of an active shooter, I'm not going to follow that checklist, I'm going to the threat. We instruct all of our officers that they may need to overtake and run an incident command, such as the 5th officer on the scene that was covered.
