This course seems a bit Law Centric, although I realize it is a law enforcement scenario. It seems like Unified Command should be utilized more than it was in the course. Also, utilize triage tags with numbers to track patients as we would when triaging patients.

The instructors repeatedly stated that " this is not the only way, it is just a way." I understand this, but it is not how we will do things in this county so the exercises were not helpful and actually counterproductive in the way we will run one of these incidents. Our goal in our group was to not remember much of the content so we won't have training scars.

Would have liked to incorporate our county policies into this course. At least on the fire side, we currently use a Rescue Group Supervisor to communicate with the RTFs. Also, our Engine/Truck companies do not carry the triage tags, only the triage tape. We would need to figure out the best time to apply the triage tag for proper tracking of the patients without delaying transport.

What other training is most important to you now that you have completed this course?

This is a perishable skill like many other skills in the fire service. We just need to continue to train on this and other disciplines.
