This was a great introduction to command post operations for emergency management personnel.

Which part(s) of the course was LEAST valuable to you? Please explain why.

The bifurcation of the tactical and overall command does not make sense for this scenario. It violates unity of command and does not add to the execution of the mission. A better model is the TOC/TAC, where a small command post builds out as more managers and personnel arrive. The T3 cell becomes the operations cell of the larger command post.

The simulations were very good at adding the time and friction needed to force command posts to deal with incidents in a realistic manner. The use of radios was a great way to add to the limits of our tactical C2 network.

What other training is most important to you now that you have completed this course?

Actual command post exercises with our command post would be the next step. The final step would be to exercise the command post with patrol officers running through the scenario with simunitions.
