As a PIO, getting time in front of a camera was the most valuable as you really feel as though you are under pressure and it most accurately simulates real life events.

I can honestly say that understanding the complexity of what first responders deal with is incredibly valuable to PIOs.

The book! As a PIO, I was not in the computer simulations or in a decision making role so the book will become a valuable resource for me to learn more about what I see and how these work.

I would have liked to practice other PIO skills beyond press conference (writing social media posts, press releases, etc/).

Sound bleed over is a problem - sometimes I didn't know if I was hearing the person I was talking to or someone else.

The most valuable was learning some basics about handling a press conference with serious information and on short notice.

Because I am not in the field (I'm in school PR) some of the jargon used for police, fire and medical was over my head. I had a steeper learning curve.
