The separate "real-time" locations (staging, tactical, command, etc.), and the utilization of radios/phones. This created communication hurdles that are common during high stress and complex situations.

A brief discussion on IED basic response is needed, but I feel too much time was spent on this during day 3. I would have preferred to spend that additional time further discussing command structure and hurdles regarding complex coordinated attacks.

Experiencing each role in a realistic scenario.

Reunification. Very important, just less applicable to fire personnel.

Use a crawl/walk/run system. Teach the first couple scenarios without the clock and then when you start the clock on a scenario, step back and let the students truly run the positions. Too many tips and jump-ins.

RTF work with my department knowing I may be tasked in a leadership position instead of working with my crew on a real incident.
