Training in various roles throughout the class.

As someone who currently works in EMS I did not find value in the ambulance or RTF roles. I have already performed extensive training on these and would have benefited from training in different aspects of the program instead.

The visual aids were poor for the simulations; could not see the details of the maps and the simulations on the computers were difficult to use. The ambulances and RTFs should just spawn at the appropirate locations vs having users drive the vehicles places, this part just caused frustration in those of us who were not able to utilize the program effectively.

What other training is most important to you now that you have completed this course?

In person interagency training.

Getting to participate with multidisiplinary partners and getting to see their priorities and focus compared to others.

The area command exercise seems underwhelming due to the lack of information or technology in the area command room. Area Command is blind to all intel and becomes more of a hinderance than a support system.

I strongly recommend EMS be consulted as a separate response profession, and not just a transport resource. EMS seems to be withheld for a long time for the sake of safety for the EMS crews, but they need to be moved in faster.

What other training is most important to you now that you have completed this course?

We will take this back to our local area and redesign what makes sense to our response area.

The drills were helpful however there was a lot of wasted time during the scenarios. I don't need to drive simulated ambulances. Perhaps run two smaller simultaneous drills that allows for more hands on with the command, T/T/T aspects, etc. Running through the scenarios as the command level staff was helpful. Simulated triage and transport was not helpful.

Having multiple professions present.

The computer part seemed to bog down how we do things, and added another level of complexity.

Please provide any other comments or suggestions you have for improving this course.

Obtain an existing IAP/SOP or policy prior to focus on making the existing one better, it was hard to not use what we have been using. So there was another level of complexity that was added unfortunately.

Cont. education with mutual education with other agencies on table top exercises.
