AS A FIRE DISPATCHER, THE COURSE DIDNT OFFER MUCH KNOWLEDGE AS IT PERTAINS TO FIRE DIS[PATCH. WISH THERE WAS A FIRE RELATED TRAINING COURSE LIKE THIS.

THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE FIRE-RELATED INCIDENTS. AS A DISPATCHER, ONCE WE DISPATCHED THE INITIAL RESPONSE, THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE TO DO EXCEPT WAIT FOR A REQUEST FOR ADDL EQUIPMENT. PERHAPS THERE COULD BE SCENARIOS WHICH CALLED FOR A HUGE RESPONSE FROM FIRE, AS WELL AS POLICE.

What other training is most important to you now that you have completed this course?

I AM INTERESTED IN ANY COURSE THAT WILL ENHANCE A DISPATCHERS ABILITY TO ADAPT AND HANDLE ANY TYPE OF INCIDENT.

THE MOST VALUABLE WAS THE SCENARIOS. I FELT LIKE THE HANDS ON PORTION WAS THE MOST BENEFICIAL.

I THINK EACH PART WAS IN SOME WAY BENEFICIAL.

I WOULD HAVE SOMEONE FROM A DISPATCH BACKGROUND IMPROVE THE CAD AND ADD A FURTHER BLOCK OF INSTRUCTION FOR DISPATCHERS. FOR EXAMPLE, VOICE CONTROL, APPROPRIATE RELAY OF INFO TO OFFICERS ON SCENE AND THE MAIN FUNCTION OF COMMUNICATIONS DURING AN INCIDENT. I WOULD ALSO INCORPORATE LIVE 911 CALLS FOR THE DISPATCHER TO TAKE DURING THE EVENT.

What other training is most important to you now that you have completed this course?

I WOULD LIKE TO ATTEND FURTHER TRAINING REGARDING IMMEDIATE THREAT CALLS AND MAYBE NATURAL DISASTERS AND BOMB SQUAD RESPONSE.

The course had great material and knowledgeable instructors.

There was no direction for Telecommunicators in role in simulations, no rotating through roles with or of Telecommunicators, no instructors with Telecommunicator experience, Telecommunicator simulation not realistic, and no others got to experience the role or importance of the Telecommunicator.

More focus should be placed on initial call taking, roles of Telecommunicators, and negotiations starting at the Telecommunicator level. More content could be added to instruction on Communications Center and all students need to rotate through the different roles. Telecommunicators are not separate from Active Shooter incidents.

Active Shooter training supporting Telecommunicator role.

I believe it would be beneficial to have dispatch participate in other areas of the incidents. Being able to physically participate in activities can increase skills in the routine activities/skills performed. It may be beneficial to have officers, EMS, or fire to participate in dispatch or observe even if for a few min. .

The practical exercises were by far the most helpful. Putting into practice the lessons of the lectures solidified the concepts.
