Practical exercises-- getting practice in how traffic sounds, applying abstract information immediately, getting statistics is all motivating.

I can't think of a specific thing? Even though I won't practically apply a lot of bomb knowledge, it's helpful to get visuals and impacts, it reinforces what I'm doing.

I think it would be helpful to have the CAD system use the run cards predominantly used for the district the training is in. Additionally, increasing some CAD capabilities, like dispatch being able to manually status units or see AVLs, would help since a lot of that is available in real-life scenarios.

What other training is most important to you now that you have completed this course?

As a dispatcher, I'm interested in negotiating skills since we often get calls from suspects.

Hands on practical exercise following lectures. It was a good way to marry the book knowledge with the real-life application.

I think it would be beneficial on day 2/3 to start with an exercise to reaffirm the knowledge learned the previous day, even if it's just a talk-it-out exercise instead of delving right into a lecture with no refresher.

Practical exercises were beneficial for field responders as it was more interactive than other classes I have been to.

Dispatch was not used as much in the exercises as they will be in real life situations.

I would love to see more dispatch directed scenarios. Maybe have callers actually call in and take the calls with information. The hostage taker calling in was probably the most realistic of them in that aspect.

Any active threat scenario is beneficial as they are high priority low frequency events.
