The ability to have hands on experience was most beneficial. It was great to hear the information and then be able to apply it.

Report outs were nice, but participants don't do as thorough of a job as instructors do.

It would be nice to have more involvement of the dispatch team. Giving dispatchers the opportunity to take calls (such as in the hostage situation) or enter call information into the call screens would be more beneficial for dispatchers. Appreciated the opportunities to scribe and be a part of the different stations throughout the week.

What other training is most important to you now that you have completed this course?

Hostage negotiation for our dispatch team. And follow-up with local entities to make sure the buy-in is there and we are all on the same page.

Seeing the operations play out in person and not just a hypothetical from my position in dispatch.

If the dispatch component were more relied upon. Instead of calltake injects, it would be helpful to have live calls into dispatch to have more of a hands on feel. In some instances I felt kind of helpless, however, that is often the reality so I suppose it is accomplishing just that.

What other training is most important to you now that you have completed this course?

I would like to take a negotiations course to help with my ability to reason on calltake.
