The scenario based learning was the most valuable although each scenario wasn't as useful to dispatchers as it was the officers it was nice to see how they would respond in these situations and hear their radio traffic.

The course wasn't fully beneficial towards the dispatchers. There were several times after we did the initial dispatch we were not long involved in anything so there was a lot of sitting during this time. With that being said it was still beneficial to watch the officers in these situations.

Please provide any other comments or suggestions you have for improving this course.

It would be beneficial more for the dispatchers to actually receive the 911 calls and then relay the information out to the officers. Or have several calls coming in with things being said during the scenarios where the dispatchers will have to focus on the calls and listen to radio traffic to type what the officers are saying.

What other training is most important to you now that you have completed this course?

I think as a dispatcher after taking this course it would be beneficial to take a hostage negotiator course.

Speaking only as a dispatcher, the book part was interesting to listen to, but didn't really relate. The information was good though!.

The scenarios meant the most to me because it gave me an idea of what is to be expected when an active shooter event will occur. Unfortunately in my area (dispatch) I was met with many challenges because there wasn't enough dispatchers to assist but if i had more time to be explained the roles a little better than i wouldn't have felt so helpless during the scenarios.

The least helpful was the lack of emphasis on dispatch. Maybe if there was a little more explanation of dispatch before the scenarios and planning then there wouldn't have been a lack of communication. Dispatch received only a 2 min layout of the scenario vs patrol got more attention,.

More emphasis on dispatch prep before the scenario and understanding to roles of the roles.

What other training is most important to you now that you have completed this course?

Tactical dispatching and more critical incident scenario training is most important to me. I would like to see dispatch being able to assign the units versus the command staff.
